Optivo residents knitting hats for the homeless

Kind-hearted Optivo residents in independent living schemes across Swale have been knitting for homeless people in the run-up to Christmas.

Residents at Regis Gate, Mockett Court, Tannery Court and Vincent Court knitted 18 hats, two scarves and more than 20 pairs of gloves.

Volunteer co-ordinator, Liza supported the knitters, providing patterns, wool and motivation! Liza arranged for the finished products to be delivered to Street Angels in Medway, who provide services to homeless people in Swale.

The Regis Gate knitters said they’d loved the social side of the weekly ‘knit-ins’, enjoying sitting together, chatting and learning new skills.
