Optivo pledge support to tackle homelessness
Optivo pledge support to tackle homelessness
07 December 2018
We’re committed to preventing and ending homelessness.
At this time of year especially, it’s a subject at the forefront of many people’s minds.
Here at Optivo we’re one of a number of housing associations making a commitment to try and tackle homelessness as we pledge our support to the ‘Commitment to Refer’.
What is the Commitment to Refer?
As part of the Homelessness Reduction Act, public bodies have been bound by the Duty to Refer. This is an obligation to refer anyone to a local authority if they are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
Housing associations are not strictly part of this, but with so many passionate about tackling the issue of homelessness, many have signed up to support the implementation of the Act. This has seen the development of a housing association specific offer on the Duty to Refer, commonly known as the ‘Commitment to Refer’.
Here's who has signed up to far:
We believe that in encouraging others to support the Commitment to Refer, we can have a positive contribution towards tackling homelessness across the UK.
