New homes for NHS workers at St Peter’s Hospital
New homes for NHS workers at St Peter’s Hospital
29 July 2020
Construction work has started on a multi-million pound development which will see new homes built for NHS workers at St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey, Surrey.
We're boosting our housing capacity for keyworkers by providing 147 high quality apartments at the site.
United Living New Homes
began building work this month and will be delivering the project over two phases.
This development will regenerate and breathe new life into part of the St Peter’s Hospital site and provide much needed affordable housing.
The first phase will deliver 75 apartments of one, two and four bedrooms across six three-storey blocks.
The second phase will see the existing accommodation demolished and replaced with a further 72 apartments of one, two and four bedrooms.
The homes – let to keyworkers at below market rents - will be available for individuals and families associated with the hospital.
Richard White, Director of Land and New Business at Optivo, said:
“We’re really excited about replacing the ageing accommodation with modern buildings which are well designed and sustainable. Over the past few months the spotlight has, quite rightly, been on the fantastic job NHS staff carry out. I’m extremely proud we’re able to provide comfortable and affordable homes for some of these amazing keyworkers.”
Tom Paul, Director of Treasury and Commercial at Optivo, added:
“This innovative project is the result of close collaboration with our partner,
Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
. We look forward to delivering accommodation which will encourage a thriving and welcoming environment for their staff.”
The site is located just over a mile from the centre of Chertsey and will benefit from the existing services that currently facilitate the St Peter’s Hospital site.
Nick Tijou, Operations Manager at United Living New Homes, added:
“We’re proud to be working in partnership with Optivo to provide 147 new homes for NHS staff. The delivery of these properties and additional new facilities will boost support for keyworkers at St Peter’s Hospital. Projects like these are at the core of our business, and align with our values and desire to leave a sustainable legacy for the communities we work in.”
Gordon O’Regan, Managing Director at United Living New Homes, said:
“NHS staff are amongst the incredible key workers who have and continue to provide a vital service to the public in these challenging times. Building new homes at St Peter’s Hospital for their use is something we are excited by and I look forward to working in partnership with Optivo to bring a wealth of improvements for generations to come.”
