The Smart Social Housing event, called Innovation in Independent Living, will see care, support and housing providers coming together to share knowledge and ideas.

It will be held at our Grosvenor House office, in High Street, Croydon, on Wednesday 9 October.

New technology – such as 'wearable tech' - has the potential to deliver new freedoms to thousands of people. This includes sending alerts following falls or deteriorating health.

Keynote presenters will include Mark Allen, Head of Strategic Commissioning at leading innovator Hampshire County Council, our Head of Independent Living Robin Deane, and Rob Padwick, Clinical Lead from Secure Meters (UK) Ltd.

Robin Deane said: “New, sensor based technologies have the potential to transform the way we work with our older and more vulnerable residents, giving them more freedom and choice.

“The challenge for organisations such as Optivo is where we start on what is sure to be an exciting  journey that challenges our traditional assumptions and practices."

Robin continues: “From our perspective, Innovation in Independent Living feels like a great learning opportunity, and we’re very keen to hear from landlords, local authorities and care providers that have moved further down the innovation road.

“Following this event we hope that everyone heads back to the office with a list of great ideas”

The Smart Social Housing event series is sponsored by place technology specialists Secure Meters, which is developing a range of home sensor solutions specifically designed for the social housing market.

The morning event is free to attend for anyone working for a social landlord, local authority or care provider.
