Latest update on fire remediation works

06 January 2022

Following comments in Parliament about Optivo’s fire safety works, we want to reiterate the latest steps we’re taking on fire safety remediation:

In November 2021, we wrote to leaseholders in blocks where we were proposing to start works, letting them know that Optivo had paused planned remediation whilst we await new fire safety guidance from the Government. This followed the announcement by the Secretary of State on 8 November that the existing advice note would be revoked by government and replaced with new guidance.

We welcomed this news from Government and we're keenly awaiting the new guidance. We've also emphasised to Government the urgent need for this new guidance to be released.

Once this new guidance has been issued, we've also committed to reassessing all fire inspection reports on these buildings, so that we can reconsider what works (if any) need to be carried out to ensure compliance with the new guidance.

We're still awaiting this new guidance from Government. Once this has been published, and the new fire safety assessments have been completed, we will communicate directly with any affected leaseholders.

We briefed Lord Greenhalgh on our approach when we met with him in mid-December.
