Government announces cost of living payments for those entitled to certain benefits

15 June 2022

Today (15 June 2022) the government has announced plans of extra payments to be made to people who claim certain benefits or working tax credits.

If you’re eligible, there is nothing you need to do. You’ll be paid automatically in the same way you usually get your benefit or tax credits. The payments will be made separately from your benefit or tax credits.

These payments are not taxable and will not affect the benefits or tax credits you get.

What support is being offered?

Those qualifying and in receipt of income-based Jobseekers allowance , income support, income-based employment support allowance, pension credits or universal credit will receive a payment of £326 from 14th July 2022. This will be followed up with a second payment on £324 in Autumn 2022.

Those eligible with a disability will receive a payment of £150 in September.

If you’re in receipt of Child tax credits or working tax credits, you’ll receive your first payment of £326 in Autumn, followed by a second payment of £324 in the Winter.
