Five Valentine's Day gift ideas that won't break the bank
Five Valentine's Day gift ideas that won't break the bank
12 February 2018
Looking for some fun DIY gifts for your Valentine that won’t break the bank? We've put together five ideas that are easy to make, and won't cost the earth:
1. Recipe jar
Fill a jar with the dry ingredients for your Valentine's favourite sweet treat; it could be anything from cookies to cupcakes or brownies. You can use the different ingredients to make layers, which looks great. Write out the recipe and the details of any extra things they might need to add (like eggs and butter).
2. Strawberry bouquet
Forget expensive roses. Why not buy a punnet of strawberries, dip them in melted chocolate, stick them on skewers and arrange them into a lovely looking bouquet with a difference.
3. Date-night coupons
Give your loved one a homemade book of coupons that they can use throughout the year. It can be anything from a cinema trip to a foot rub, or even a promise to do the washing up!
4. Romantic notes
Jot down some of your soppiest thoughts on post-it notes and stick them up around the house for your Valentine to find throughout the day; or simply arrange them into a heart on a wall where they’ll catch their attention.
5. Giant homemade chocolate buttons
This is one that will keep the kids occupied! Melt some milk, plain or dark chocolate in a bowl. Spoon the mixture into giant circles (or you could try making hearts) on a piece of baking parchment, top with some edible decorations, like sprinkles, and let them cool.
Have a look at this recipe
if you need some help.
