Building Safety Crisis – the latest action

01 November 2021

We know the Building Safety Crisis is continuing to cause concern for affected leaseholders across the country.

We're sorry for any distress caused to our leaseholders and want to offer reassurance we’re actively lobbying the Government and working with your MPs, particularly around the issue of funding.

We, like all housing associations and our residents, want the problems resolved as quickly as possible.

We still await details of the funding that government will provide for leaseholders in blocks below 18 metres.

Together with the National Housing Federation, and MPs from all parties, we’re urging the government to provide non-repayable grants as they have for leaseholders in blocks over 18 metres.

We’re also part of the G15, a group of the largest housing associations in London.

The G15 recently commented on the Government’s consultation on fire safety. This consultation ran alongside the draft Building Safety Bill.

You can read further details about this here.

The G15 has also urged the government to remove VAT on fire remediation works

Finally, our senior staff are continuing to raise this issue at the highest levels, including meeting with local MPs.

We’ll continue to call for government funding to help cover these costs so neither leaseholders nor charitable housing associations like us have to bear the cost.
