We have 2 full time apprenticeship roles available where you could be working as a  Groundworker or a Trainee Site Supervisor.

You’ll not only gain some great experience but will earn while you learn too*.

It’s the perfect way to start a career in housing! Further detail on each role is provided below:
 

Groundworker Appentice

We are seeking a Groundworker apprentice. Groundworkers work with concrete, bricks and blocks as required, laying drainage, pavements and digging excavations.

This means that the ideal candidate will enjoy hard physical labour and working outside in all weather conditions. The apprentice we’re looking for will enjoy working on site and will also thrive with college based learning.

The college aspect is likely to be on a block release basis (spending longer periods at college periodically throughout the year, most likely either at National Construction College in Bircham Newton or in East London. It is likely that you will be expected to stay away from home in accommodation provided as part of the apprenticeship).

This is a demanding job role and apprenticeship. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team but also individually, a pro-active approach to your work is required. Previous site knowledge would be an advantage. The role will also include an element of site administration tasks and candidates should be prepared to undertake these alongside the role. This apprenticeship will be mainly be site based and will involve site office working and is a theory based apprenticeship.

You must be able to understand and follow clear instructions; be physically able as you will need to lift, bend and undertake manual work and use relevant equipment. An awareness of health and safety is essential
The selected individual will be keen to learn and demonstrate initiative. Candidates must be comfortable working with different people and trades on site.

A good sense of humour and a strong work ethic is essential.

There are no formal entry requirements however, GCSE grades in English and Maths would be useful (or equivalent). The successful candidate will also be required to take and pass a Drug and Alcohol test and the CSCS test as a condition of any offer of employment.

Trainee Site Supervisor

This is an excellent opportunity to take your first steps into a Site Technician/Site Supervision role by joining a construction company dealing with infrastructure, buildings and housing development.

This placement will be in the Battle and travel to wider local area will be involved.
 
The role will involve working alongside Supervisors learning all aspects of supervision and management of construction sites.

The apprenticeship and qualification include:

  • Surveying in construction
  • Computer Aided rafting and Design
  • Health, Safety and Welfare

We are looking for a hard working and motivated individual who is ready to learn and career focused.

You will be reliable, hard-working, punctual and keen to learn. You’ll also demonstrate good communication skills and will be a real team player.

We require applicants to hold 4 x GCSE qualifications in English, Maths, Science (grade C as minimum). Construction or site experience would be an advantage although not essential.

Day-to-day you’ll be based on the development site found on the land off Tollgates in Battle, East Sussex.
