IMAGE: A CGI of the masterplan at Preston BarracksWe’ve completed the purchase of land to deliver 369 quality new homes in Brighton as part of the exciting £300m Preston Barracks masterplan.
The masterplan, a partnership between U+I, Brighton & Hove City Council and University of Brighton, is set to create a thriving new community as part of one of the city’s biggest ever regeneration projects.
It will now feature the new Optivo homes. Other features of the masterplan (which aren't being delivered by Optivo) include student accommodation, state-of-the-art academic buildings and an employment space for new businesses.
And it will include a striking new footbridge over the Lewes Road, a new boardwalk to the station, public squares, shops, cafes, workshops, play spaces, an outdoor fitness route and stunning landscape.
We’ll be delivering a mix of homes for private sale, affordable rent and Shared Ownership.

Neill Tickle, Land and New Business Director at Optivo, said: “We’re passionate about delivering new homes and re delighted to have completed this deal with U+I. This is very exciting time for Brighton and we’re proud to be involved with such an ambitious masterplan that will create jobs and positively transform the area. It’s Optivo’s largest land only deal to date and we’re keen to get started on building 369 much-needed quality homes as part of a buzzing new neighbourhood.”

This brownfield site had been derelict for over two decades. The site, in Lewes Road, Brighton, is around a mile and a half from Brighton City centre.
