The Families on our Doorstep project has helped nearly 500 people in the local area.

Our team and residents picked up the Excellence in Employment Skills and Training accolade at the TPAS Awards on Friday (29 March).

TPAS are tenant engagement experts and the awards aim to ‘shine a spotlight on the special successes which can only be achieved when residents, landlords and contractors work together’.

Emma Cummings, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Optivo, said: “It’s been great to watch the difference this project has made to so many people’s lives. I’m so proud of everybody who’s been on this journey with us. Although the Families on our Doorstep has sadly come to an end, we’ll continue to help people through ‘Foundations’, our new health and wellbeing service. We believe focussing on our wellbeing gives us the foundations to build a happy and healthy life. We look forward to positively transforming even more people’s futures.”

The Big Lottery funded Families on our Doorstep for three years, up until December 2018. The project provided training courses and one to one support to help parents build confidence, learn new skills and gain employment.

Success stories included Krystina who has become a teaching assistant, while Keeley is running a successful support group for women affected by domestic abuse.

The TPAS awards were held at The Principal Hotel Manchester.
