'First dibs' for Londoners

IMAGE: Builders at workOptivo is backing the Mayor of London’s new initiative which will offer Londoners ‘first dibs’ on new homes in the capital.

We will restrict sales of all our new-build market sale homes in the capital, up to £350,000, to UK buyers only for three months.

The offer also involves Londoners, who live or work in the capital, being offered ‘first dibs’ exclusively for the first month.

The initiative has been backed by the g15, a group of London’s largest housing associations. We are part of the g15 and our Chief Executive, Paul Hackett, is chair.

Paul appeared on ITV London News on Monday (5 February) to discuss the announcement.

He explained: “As an open and thriving world city, London is hugely attractive to foreign investors. Although this has had many benefits in recent years, it’s also made it increasingly difficult for Londoners to compete in what has become a global housing market in our own capital city.  As London’s largest housing associations, g15 support the Mayor’s ‘first dibs’ for Londoners initiative. We recognise the importance of prioritising ordinary Londoners, who otherwise would find it much harder to buy a home in the city in which they live and work.”
